Elaine moved to Wales in February 2012 to take up the challenge of working with Primary Care to drive up quality and bring care closer to home. She bought with her experience gained over the last two years as Head of Practice Based Commissioning at NHS Swindon, 4 years as a GP Practice Manager and locality lead for Practice Based Commissioning and a further 3 years as an operational and facilities manager in secondary care. Her current role offers the opportunity to draw together aspects of her previous NHS experience as well as her early career working in the third sector.
Elaine has led a diverse range of projects including a Community Pharmacy Triage & Treat service, establishing a GP led unscheduled care team, Community Matron role change to support Very High Intensive Users, commissioning third sector support to improve End of Life in Care Homes, GP Practice-led Extended Sexual Health, Functional Exercise to reduce social isolation and prescribing/secondary care interventions, Diabetes community & educational service, and a Fitness to Refer initiative. She is committed to devolving decision making to local communities, growing competent clinical leaders and actively engaging with patients.
As a Health Foundation Leadership Fellow and now a member of the Q initiative, Elaine has a relentless focus on quality improvement, growing a culture of mutual respect and understanding, developing networks and constant learning.
Most importantly Elaine is a mother of 3, wife to a nurse which leads to plentiful healthcare debates, and is a serial hobbyist...all done with passion and limited skill!
